Casen's Grandparents

When my nephew was born four years ago, my parents decided that they wanted fun grandparent names, so my dad chose Guapo, which means handsome in Spanish and my Mom went for Millie which is grand in French. Due to my nephew, however, Guapo has morphed into Baupo...which he still loves.

Randy and Bonnie, Chris' parents, are still trying to decide! We still have a while to go before Casen can call them anything so I'm sure they'll come up with something great!

John Michael and Casen

John Michael is my sister's four year old. He absolutely loves Casen and they are adorable to watch together!

Here, John Michael was letting off some energy by dancing circles around baby Casen. Casen was totally amused!

MeMaw and Pa

Casen met his great grandparents for the first time on Saturday. Bonnie's parents, whom we affectionatley call MeMaw and Pa, met us for lunch and then came over to my parents house to visit for a while. Casen loved his great grandparents and it was obvious that MeMaw and Pa thought Casen was pretty special too!

MeMaw and Pa are wonderful grandparents and great grandparents. I believe Casen makes number 7 on the great grandkid list. They do an amazing job of making everyone feel special. Casen has already received his first five dollar bill from them to be used for "frozen veggies" aka ice cream!

Casen found a great napping place!

Audrey, Juliet, and Casen

If anyone has ever spent much time around twins, they know how fascinating they are. My older sister has a set of one year old twins, Juliet and Audrey. It is amazing how different they are even though they have been raised in the same way. Audrey is the tomboy and Juliet is the princess. Audrey is taller, Juliet has thicker hair. Audrey loves animals and Juliet is a yakker. I could go on and on.

Juliet seemed to take more of an interest in Casen than her sister did. She would sit looking at him and grinning, then she'd reach out and touch him. She loved him. Audrey, on the other hand, took one quick glance at him and then took off crawling looking for something more interesting to get in to...Her favorite thing right now is dog food!

Back Home

Sorry I've negelected the blog for the past week. Chris was playing in a golf tournament this weekend so Casen and I decided to pack up (the enitre house it seemed) and head to Oklahoma to see our family.

Casen was very glad to see his Daddy when we got home. They spent some good quality time napping together.

Sorry to all of my friends who wanted to meet Casen, but between his schedule, my parents schedule, my sisters schedule and my need to relax a bit we just couldn't make it happen. I barely made it to Target to buy diapers while I was there! Hopefully, we'll catch you the next time around.

Bath Time

Casen got another bath last night. This is usually his first reaction to the water. He screams!

Then, after a while, he decides that he can handle bath time. I'm looking forward to the day when he thinks bath time is fun and when we can break out the squirty toys and play!

Weekend Visitors

Kimberly, one of my all time favorite coworkers and worlds biggest Sarah Palin fan ( ;) ), and her precious daughter Olivia came over Saturday evening to meet Casen. We had a ton of fun and it was so good to catch up with Kimberly. Kimberly has always been so much fun to work with. She is hilarious and isn't afraid to tell you what is on her mind, which I find really refreshing.

If any of you know anyone in the child modeling world they need to get Olivia on the covers of all kids magazines. She has to be one of the most gorgeous kids I've ever seen (aside from Casen of course).

Kelly Karr brought over a wonderful dinner on Saturday. It was delicious. I found out on Sunday that she totally made up a recipe and subjected Chris and I to her experimentation. She's brave. I'm glad she is because the chicken was amazing!

A Boy and His Dog

Sutton and Casen have already developed a love for one another. I have been so thankful for how well Sutton has responded to Casen. She's been a great dog!

Now, if we can only train her to sniff out dirty diapers for us! At DFW airport they use beagles to sniff out bombs and drugs. If Casen is anything like my nieces, I'm sure he'll start producing some major bombs in his diaper pretty soon. Sutton is practicing here, but doesn't have the hang of it just yet. Hopefully soon, our little dirty diaper detective will be in full working mode!

Grandma and Grandpa???, Bummie and ???

We're still trying to come up with good names for Chris' parents. Chris likes to call them Big Momma and Fat Boy, but they don't seem to appreciate that. Grandma and Grandpa are fine, they just seem like the type that need a name that is a bit spunkier! Bonnie thinks Casen should be the one to decide, but I don't know if we can wait that long!

Anyway, Bonnie and Randy came to visit on Tuesday. Randy did a ton of work around the house from fixing our dryer to putting down paving stones in an area where our grass won't grow. Bonnie played with Casen and made some of her signature dishes, fajitas, guacamole and caramel apple pie. It was great having them here!

The McKinzies

Chris and Paige brought over baked chicken and veggies with some amazing blueberry bread Sunday evening. I love having Paige's meals. While they are always delicious, I always come away slightly irritated because she makes hostessing and cooking look so easy! I'm hoping to pick up on some of her tricks!

Chris and Paige are one of the most loyal, faithful, and kind hearted couples that I know. My Chris and I have been totally blown away at their dedication to McKinney and their generous service. They are currently leading a new young married and engaged couples class at church and are doing a fantastic job. They are true servants of Christ and we love spending time with them!

The Thinkers

We get a lot of comments from our visitors about how serious our son seems to be so far. I often find him in different poses that look like he is deep in thought. A few days ago, he decided to imitate the famous statue by Rodin called "The Thinker." It appears as though we have a little thinker on our hands. I can't wait until he can talk so I can find out what he is contemplating!

One of our leaders from Eikon (the young single adult group at church) came by to visit Casen. Betsy is definitely a deep thinker as well. She is an accountant and therefore is always on top of all of the little details for any of Eikon's events. Casen loved her and fell right asleep in her arms!

I'm a Growing Boy!

Casen was so proud of his good report at the pediatrician's office today that he decided to show off his big boy muscles! We had our first Dr's appointment this afternoon and were very happy to find that Casen is a growing and gaining weight. He weighs 8.45 pounds now and has already grown 2 inches taller!

Introducing...Jen and Kara

It seems as though our blog has gone viral, now we've got people showing up as much because they want to be on the blog as they want to see Casen. Two of the girls from Eikon, Jen and Kara, came over to visit last night and boy did they look great! They had gone home to get dressed up so they could make their Internet debut. Casen loved both of them and guys if you are interested either one would make an excellent wife. To get in touch with Kara or Jen dial 817... on second thought, maybe you should just contact us and we'll put you in touch.

Sweet, Peaceful Sleep

Last night was a rough night. We are trying desperately to get Casen on a schedule but it's creating a few tough days. However, I know we'll all be better off in the long run.

When Casen finally went to sleep this morning for his nap, I had to take a picture. He looked so peaceful and adorable!

Labor Day

Our Labor Day holiday was pretty laid back this year. Ben, Brenda and Benjamin brought over a meal for us and visited for a while. Sutton and Benjamin loved each other! Casen still needs a few months before he's any fun to Benjamin.

These are our good friends Paul and Susan. They brought us lunch and came over for a visit. They're little girl (we think) and Casen's future wife is due in February. We're letting them practice their skills on Casen.
